Join me on this adventure as I explore natural nourishment, simpler living,
homemade creations, and leaning-in to more wholesome lifestyle.
Hello…or hello again.
First of all…
Welcome if you are just joining this journey and Thank You to those who have been here since the beginning. I greatly appreciate the support from each and every one of you.
My love of experimenting in the kitchen is nothing new, but being stuck at home with a baby just starting solids in 2020 opened a whole new world for me. I began reading labels, questioning ingredients, and avoiding things with excess sugar and salt and weird ingredients I couldn’t pronounce. You don’t have to search far to discover that many of the ingredients in commercial products aren’t great for you. The more I learned the more ‘limited’ I felt, leading me to wondering how hard these things really were to make. It turns out that many of them are actually quite simple. And so began my journey of from-scratch cooking. By the summer of 2021 I had an almost 2 year old that truly believed dried fruit was candy and crackers didn’t come from the store. So I started a little thing called K’s Kitchen and brought these simple, healthy snacks to the local farmers market. A community of K’s Kitchen fans grew I continued K’s Kitchen until the spring of 2024.
Making things from scratch allowed me to carefully select the ingredients to make our food as nutritious as possible. My deep dives into the ingredients also presented the idea of sourcing and paying attention to where the ingredients were coming from and the processing they had gone through. In early 2022 I enrolled in a holistic nutrition program to expand my knowledge even further, earning my diploma in Applied Nutrition in the spring of 2024. Throughout my studies I shared nutrition and health information as well as recipes with a small group on social media, but struggled with getting the messages to a broader audience.
If you were around me during these years you probably listened to me go on and on about all of the things I was learning and trying. And surely, you heard me say “it’s not that hard” countless times. My goal became making ‘good’ food accessible to as many people as possible and helping people learn about what ‘good’ food actually is. After a ton of contemplating I started Wild Wholesome Home in the fall of 2023. The blog was started to give a larger audience easy access to information and recipes. As time went on, the focus of K’s Kitchen and Wild Wholesome Home became very similar and in early 2024 I made the decision to merge the two. This is also when I took the leap to set up a farm stand, making many products accessible 24/7.
This immense shifting and growing brings us to where we are today.
My mission for Wild Wholesome Home is to make a nutritious, wholesome lifestyle accessible to everyone. Although the main focus so far has been on cooking and recipes, you can look forward to more on preserving, personal care, foraging, homemade medicine cabinet, nutritional details, and more. You may choose to stop by local markets or the farm stand to pick up ready-made products, you may hop on the blog to find a recipe for a nourishing meal, or you may just be browsing for nutritional information so you can make more informed decisions about the products you are consuming. I am excited to continue to share the how-tos, the research, and the ready-made products that have become staples in our household.
I promise, it really ISN’T that hard to start taking steps toward a more wholesome lifestyle.
